Bound Away: Handmade book with Cake

​This handmade book was created in conjunction with the band Cake.  The book illustrates the lyrics to the song "Bound Away," from their album "Showroom of Compassion," which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200.   Each book comes with a CD of the single, so you can follow along while you read the lyrics. 

The book is a real hands-on production: hand-carved linoleum blocks are hand-printed on hand-made paper and hand-bound into an edition of 1,000 books each autographed by the band.​

I created all illustrations and the CD design.  The immense amount of production work was done by a legion of volunteers. The band members helped in many parts of the production work.
